PAVING THE WAY FOR PARENTHOOD
Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) is a procedure in which carefully prepared sperm (washed) is placed in the uterus using a small catheter through the cervix.
ABOUT IUI TREATMENT
This technique is used to obtain a high concentration of spermatozoa in the reproductive system to increase the chances that sperm reach and fertilize the egg.
IUI TREATMENT PROCEDURE
This procedure is preceded by the induction of ovulation. During ultrasound monitoring, when the main follicle reaches 18-20 mm, a trigger injection (HCG) is administered and the IUI is programmed 36 hours later.
This is a simple and painless procedure practiced in the clinic. The procedure only takes a few minutes and daily activities can be resumed immediately afterward.
INDICATIONS OF IUI TREATMENT
This is a basic fertility treatment indicated in couples with:
- Limit sperm count
- Sperm motility parameters decreased
- Ejaculatory dysfunction
- Donor sperm
- Unexplained infertility
- Induction of ovulation with gonadotropins
- The permeability of the fallopian tubes is a prerequisite for this treatment.
